Open Hearts Society
Eric Schenkman and Chris Brown’s musical relationship began when The Spin Doctors and Bourbon Tabernacle Choir were orbiting each other’s music scenes in Toronto and New York City.
Their paths led them both to Eastern Ontario — Schenkman to Prince Edward County, and Brown to nearby Wolfe Island. Revelation of their common geography, led to regular nights of music at The Mansion in Kingston.
Week to week, locals and touring musical luminaries would sit in. When Sarah McDermott brought her bell-like voice and fiery environmental conscience, The Open Hearts Society was born.
Love In Time is nine songs written and recorded at the old Post Office on Wolfe Island, inspired by Mother Nature and Human Nature. Joining the trio on this debut recording are many near and dear, including drumming legend Anton Fier, Eric’s Spin Doctors bandmate Aaron Comess, Kate Fenner, Sarah Harmer, Emily Fennell and Joan Wasser.
